Kasuti Embroidery

There are many talents Indian women possess which least  exposed to the world. Kasuti embroidery is one such craft, prevalent in  Karnataka  and Maharastra, in which the women show their spontaneity and imagination. It is very similar to rangoli and requires much concentration. The speciality is that the design appear similar on the reverse side too. Read about the origin and types  of kasuti embroidery here.

This is my humble attempt to use the age old kasuti embroidery to give my plain T shirt a rich look.

    Hi Lakshmiammal,very beautiful embroidery.Kudos to you for keeping the fading arts alive.I would very mych want to learn this one even though I don’t do much of embroidery(infact,none at all now).I also want to learn the kashmiri stitch.One of my neighbourhood aunties used to do beautiful embroidery but I never had the time to lean then.do you know this stich?

    Hi friends,
    I am so happy that you appreciate my work. But there are so many workers in villages doing this great embroidery for wages to earn their daily bread. To us it is art,but for them it is a job. I wish everyone of us takes time to think and thank the poor women who did the beautiful work on our costly salwars.
